Imogen Heap

Hello everyone! I do live stream of Q&A from The Listening Chair every week. Day depends on what's going on. 

I really look forward to these catchups and conversations. They always take me in surprising directions and often put me through the motions in one way or another. Feels like therapy almost somehow! Getting to know your faces too. 

The questions I answer are from those who have received a ticket from Augmented Imogen. Currently a chat bot (that's all we have for now but bare with us) found on this mobile app, with three little dots in the bottom right hand corner. AImogen is constantly learning about me and you can ask her questions. If AImogen can't answer she'll ask you if you'd like to ask me directly.. and then you get a ticket. 

Augmented Imogen in the long term, I hope to be fun, organised, digital, 24/7 online presence with an Encyclopedic knowledge of me. Hopefully with wit and charm if we get it right. This will of course take a lifetime and beyond of development but it's curious to explore what this means for individual AI assistance, better or for worse. Here to explore the pros and cons and see where it takes us. 

All answers not able to be answered by AImogen, will be given by me in person and then these answers will in turn be edited (currently manually) and fed back into AImogen in the hope that I will only have to answer the same question once! 

The subscription funding is going towards costs to pay the team to better AImogen. I hope to develop AImogen over the years to become a really useful member of my extended team, being able to field questions into my various inboxes, so I don't miss stuff and integrating with data in The Creative Passport (we are also developing). AImogen may share music that's suitable to the conversation or ever personally make you pieces herself (as I might if I could humanly do that 24/7!). This is all to enable me in my life to have more quality time and deeper conversation with family, music, friends and fans.

The Listening Chair Conversations

This is the first Live Improvisation to raise money for the Creative Passport.

A month before, we'd created a Go Fund Me page as Spotify had added the possibility to be able to link a tip account (in response to COVID-19). An increase in per stream play would have sufficed but we will make do! I thought as I'd already set it up, I could attempt to raise more money via the Improvisations as I'd already started them a couple of weeks before. The first live stream with the link raised £700 which pays for a few days development of the Creative Passport. In general... most of my profits go to The Creative Passport these days but due to Harry Potter play not being live in Theatres any more... profits have someone dwindled!! This is my way of also sharing with other musicians they could contribute now toward a future they'd like, where a living in return for good music experiences is easier to come by.

I wonder how many I'll do... or whether other musicians may consider doing a similar thing and directing concerts/ live streams to the go fund me page. Probably not but one can hope!

I was sent by my dear friend Steven Hoggett some choreographed dances to write some music to and do what I fancy with them!

This is what came of a day in the studio.

The start of Clemmie's dance really struck how I was (and still am) feeling that day. That it's all a bit overwhelming. I felt there was a point of breakdown, it had all got too much (i'm speaking about my interpretation of the dance here not my mental state) and then the third section a rise from the ashes. A carefree, show your true colours, let it all go. Drift into the acceptance of who you are.

Steven gave me no hints or clues as to what the dance was portraying or indeed what music they used to dance to. I figured out all 4 solo dances were to the same music, as they had similar peaks in movement. So i wrote the piece to Clemmie's dance but I think I may prefer how it sits on Chris' dance.

Not sure what will come of it yet. Very very rough first sketch that is just sitting on the 'shelf'. Thought you may fancy a listen. I think there's something in it.

Will add more details when I know the full names of the dancers.
